Combining entertainment and commerce in one platform

A video sharing app inspired from Youtube, TikTok and Bigo Live with an eCommerce twist. Meant to be an alternative social media platform that fully utilize the blockchain technology that allows peer-to-peer transactions.  

Focusing on the ever-growing K-Pop industry, this platformis not only about sharing and streaming videos but also act as a platform for artistes and labels to showcase their talents and products

A platform where users can share videos and shop

The K-Pop industry hits the world through video - with Youtube as one of its main platforms. With so many video sharing platform that are readily available in the world, the idea to come up with another one can be very challenging.

At the same time, K-Pop is not just about music and entertainment. With such massive followings around the world, K-Pop has become one of the main drivers for other industries as well and one of them is fashion.

A short interview was conducted among hundreds of K-Pop fans in Malaysia has shown that almost 60% of the fan said that they would love to emulate the fashion of the K-Pop Stars. This number, although only represent a very small portion of the huge fan-based can still be the determining point for the unique selling point of the platform that is going to be built.

This platform is going to be one-stop platform for video and creative content sharings, combined with an online shopping platform where artistes or labels or brands can showcase their products via the video shared.

The one-stop platform where users can socialize, earn and shop

Based of the readily available data and also the survey involving the potential target users, it has been concluded that there is an opportunity to gather the industry players and their followers in one platform. Based on the data and survey results, the design will be based on the following three core functionalities;

Users can share, socialize and interact with one another via this platform. While content creators can monetize their videos via tips, sales commissions and endorsements depending on their views and followers
Sellings & Buyings

Sellings & Buyings

Users will have the abilities and options to purchase any products showcased in a video posted by a content creator. Brands and labels can sell their products by endorsing a content creator to showcase their goods.
Secure & Transparent

Secure & Transparent

Transactions will be transparent. Riding on blockchain technology, the platform enables users to choose between peer-to-peer transactions using their crypto currency wallet or the normal online transaction

Structured and well-placed content to ensure seamless interaction flow and experience

The design emphasizes on interactions. The screen design is structured to allow users to have clear access to any functions that they can interact with. The content will be presented according to users' preferences and their followings.

Users can share content by creating a post and share, or by sharing the content posted by other creator. They can interact by liking, commenting and replying to a post and users can also send tips to the creator's if they like a post

Sell to inspire and be inspired to buy

Normal online shops or marketplace focus on the product listing. Users or shoppers browse the product by sifting through categories and product list. BRST Live! offers a new shopping experience where the main product display or showcase is not via catalog but through videos posted by post creators - mainly artistes, labels and influencers. Apart from showcasing their arts and creative content, these groups can also earn commissions on each product purchased from their posts.

The shopping and checkout screens are designed so that the users or shoppers will have seamless shopping experience - view post, interact, be inspired and purchase.

// Secure & Transparent

Secure and transparent transactions for all users

Another main feature that makes this platform different from its competitors is it rides on the blockchain technology, which enables the users to transact directly with each other using their crypto wallets. Thus minimizing the need for a middle party who takes a portion of the payment. However, this platform still considers users who prefer the conventional payment method and users who do not have a crypto wallet.

Putting these together into the design takes a lot of considerations since it deals with two different styles of payment methods. Users who are familiar with transactions with cryptocurrencies are used to peer-to-peer transactions where payment are sent directly to the recipients via an encrypted ID and process using QR Codes while conventional payment methods require the payment to go to a 3rd party processors and involved sharing the users' bank account data.

Either way, the design must ensure that these transactions can be done in the simplest way and at the same time maintain the highest level of security and transparency.

// Conclusion

Dynamic design thinking and continuous studies to suit the ever-changing and massive industries

Dealing with huge data opens up a lot of possibilities. With such a massive industry operating on a global scale as K-Pop, this platform's design must be dynamic and evolving. The design for the first pilot covers only the tip of the iceberg. Continuous research will be done to ensure that this platform can expand in the right direction to cater to the ever-changing user trends.
